Christmas Cactus!!!
One of my two christmas cacti. I have had it for two years now. It blooms for christmas and again for easter.
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...tus-pretty.jpg The flower is 2.5 inches wide and an inch long. Sorry its tipped. :) |
That's a really great picture. I've just got two of these this year and they have such bright flowers I just love them.

is a flower of such size unusual? beautiful flower!
i would liek to see a photo of the whole plant as it is hard to tell the size from a close up. how long have you had it for? does it get a cooling period before blooming? i just got one did not have many blooms but was small. I have many rooted cuttings of epihyllums and easter cactus. |
Oooo thats so pretty.

Beautiful bloom!!

Do you give it a cool down period and short light???

Countrygramma and stefpix I live in northern alberta (Canada) so i don;t have to worry about giving it cooler temps and shorter days when fall comes around, it just happens all by itself. I grow it in a north window so it getts the cold coming thorugh the winter. Yes it does have unuasually large flowers they are the biggest ive ever seen on a christmas cactus, thats why I bought it! lol! It is 17cm tall and the span from the tips of the two outside branches is 20cm, so its not an overly large plant.

That's great. Thanks, maybe if I put mine in my north window that will work, too.
