Blooming today

4 Attachment(s)
These pics (I toke this morning) show two Bifrenarias (these little ones are formerly called Stenocoryne or Adipe)

Attachment 2147
Bifrenaria leucorrhoda (leukos=white; rhodon=rose, color of the rose, pink). leucorrhoda is the biggest 'stenocoryne', and this one is blooming since november/2006.

Attachment 2148Attachment 2152
Bifrenaria vitellina (vitellinus=egg yolk color). First blooming, and I think the plant was wrong labeled, appears like Bifrenaria stefanae, similar but not 'egg yolk colored'; but I'll wait til the flowers have been fully opened. Two spikes and four buds, for the first blooming its very good!

Attachment 2150
This is NOID Cattleya (C. Portia like) that I posted in the "Identification Forum" but unfortunately nobody could help.

I like your Bifrenaria flowers. The flowers look so fragile. And the catt is pretty! Barbara

In the case of former Stenocoryne group, the flowers are in fact fragile, and I lose a spike of Bifrenaria charlesworthii two weeks ago, due excess of heat and sun ligth; the plants are epiphitic in Mata Atlântica (atlantic rain forest) and demand semi-shadow light and high atmosferic humidity, but are tempertaure tolerant (infortunately the buds are not tolerant!). The Bifrenaria 'itself' group are bigger and have very resistant blooms (they are rupiculous and live under full sun).

Gorgeous Catt. I had never heard of the Bifrenaries.

Nice plants. My favorite is cattleya.

All are very nice but the general consensus seems to be we're Catt people? I like it too. Thanks for sharing. Any updated pics on the Bifrenaries?
