So pretty! I had a seedling of this but somehow I killed it last year :( I would like to get another someday! It's beautiful. I have all these books about angraecums and I just love them but I am nervous since I killed that one lol.

Oh my goodness that is one beautiful orchid and the photo shows it off wonderfully. Congratulations.

Wow that is beautiful!! What a work of art!

So well-behaved. Very unlike some of the really showy Angraecoides. Can't wait for mine to set spike.

Beautiful bloom on that one, Calvin. How big is the plant? Are you growing it relatively dry in the winter, or is it getting watered regularly? I have a couple of baby magdalenaes (well, at least I think that they're still babies) that have not yet bloomed for me yet. So I'm interested to learn how big (height and width? number of growths?) yours is. Any cultural tips you'd care to share will also be appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for checking this one out guys!
The plant is relatively small - it has several (4/5) smaller fans in various sizes popping up. Here is a size comparison: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4011/...c94b808ae2.jpg Taken next to a beer bottle It did get a significant drop in temps, and the sun angle does change during the winter so we get a bit brighter sunlight (on the days we get any sun) which I think did the trick. It's potted in a plastic cup in a mix of perlite and fine rock, and is grown dry (watered once 1.5 weeks) in the winter, although more wet in the summer. I'm surprised that it bloomed; I think these ones don't mind it a bit sunnier and drier. I've had it for about 10 months now, so I'm still waiting to see how well it grows this summer. Still learning how to take care of this one! |
Thanks, Calvin!
