Snow!!!!
Well, the weather people got it right this time. It is snowing, large, wet flakes and a lot of them. Oh, I know this is not anything special to those of you in the more northern climes, but snow of any amount is to us on the Gulf Coast of Texas. At the rate it is falling there will be an accumulation and that bodes badly for anyone who is obligated to travel by car today. We have so few snowstorms that people here do not know how to drive in it and many accidents occurr.
At any rate, it is beautiful and although I took a couple of pictures earlier, I'll go out again later for more. At least, my orchids are safely in the GH with the electric heater keeping them warm. I've still got to get that Kangroo fern in and the papaya, too. :snow: Beverly A. |
Brrr! :icy
I'm not much of a snow lover, to be honest with you. I can take a ton of heat and not care about it, but the same isn't true for the cold. I tend to get sick a lot in cold weather. :blushing: |
Carl, I'm completely the opposite! I love snow, and can take the cold much better than hot weather. Which is why I would never move south.
Looks like it's time to bring out the snow smilies: :snowball:snowball:snowball:snowball:snowball |
I no longer love snow...which is why I live where I live
Beverly, I know what you mean about it being so rare that folks get wacky on the roads...stay safe...and enjoy it  |
Snow!!!!
It is now 4:30 pm+ CST and it is still snowing. Contrary to what I had thought, the snow here at home is not accumulating although it probably will this evening. The temperature is 33 and forecast to go to 25 in the wee hours. In a nearby town there was enough for kids to make a small snowman according to DH when he went there and the snowfall was heavy enough to be hard to see through any distance.
Have no fear, I'm not going anywhere this evening and may not tomorrow morning depending on the temperature. The roads will surely have glare ice on them and that and I do not mix. In 1969 I rolled my truck when I hit some ice on the freeway. I lived in Michigan then and you would think I would have learned to drive in those conditions. So here I will stay in front of my computer, or TV, or curled up with an interesting book. :D Beverly A. |
I live next to texas and I am PUMPED about the snow!!!! Last year it snowed really well (5 inches) and it was amazing.

I live near Houston and we got a pretty heavy snow, lots of big flakes for quite a while. After a while it started to stick, about an inch worth, I would guess, but then the snow started turning to rain and the snow all went away. It was fun to see though. We don't get that very often.

Seems like us snow lovers aren't represented on this post--so I thought I'd chime in :) I agree with Camile, I love snow and cold weather (but then I grew up in Montreal); heat, humidity and I don't mix :(( And, it just happens to be snowing outside now :snow: don't think we are expecting much though. I love to cross country ski, if I get cold I can always find an other sweater or put an other log on the fire. But I am a good orchid mom and keep all my chids warm

:snow:Enjoy it while it lasts. Remember the sun will come out tomorrow!

Its a blizzard out there in Alberta Canada. House arrest, traffic problems, and wind that blows snow back on your sidewalk after you just shovelled. And exam week at the university of alberta....(I can't go to the library) hurray!!
It all depends on the type of snow wea are dealing with |
