Laelia species?

:waving: I'm looking for a really good nursery (preferably online) that has a rather large collection of Laelia species/hybrids. i can find many Laeliocattleyas but I want some pure laelias. Any ideas? :scratchhead:

Feel free to let me know your experience with them too.

Are you looking fr true Laelias or the Brazilian Laelias?

For someone as brain-dead as I am from time to time, maybe someone could first tell us what the difference is other than that Mauro probably has every Brazilian species hanging in his growing area.... LOL

What's the difference between true laelias and brazillian laelias? I'm looking for laelias of any kind.

True Laelias are alibida, anceps, autumnalis, gouldiana, kennedyi, and rubescens which happen to be of Mexican origin that I can name off the top of my head.

The Brazilian Laelias have been moved to Cattleya such as crispa, dayana, lobata, jongheana, perrinii, purpurata, pumila, praestans, sincorana, and tenebrosa to name a few.

Anyway, to answer your question online companies that I would suggest are:
Andy’s Orchids
Carter and Holmes
Santa Barbara Orchid Estates

Check out H&R Nurseries, Exotic Orchids of Maui and Tropical Orchid Farm. All 3 farms have some of the best plants in the industry and regularly have Laelias.

Gold Country Orchids has a pretty good selection of select Laelia sincorana. Plus the L. anceps are great, many forms and beautiful 4N plants. Plus just about everything else.

The Orchid Trail in Morrisville, NC has a pretty extensive selection of rupiculous Laelias and Laelia purpurata. They import from both Floralia and Bela Vista in Brasil. I ordered several L. purpurata seedlings from them and plants were quite nice.
