Laelia purpurata type and var. roxo-violeta
The first two photos are from a type flower, with petals and sepals perfectly white and purple lip. Actually, it is still type, but the color of this lip is a bit different, tending to roxo-bispo. The other two photos show a nice variety roxo-violeta. Roxo-violeta is also known as var. aço, which is merely a regionalism (orchid collectors from Santa Catarina, Brazil, use to use this name).

Mauro,
Beautiful blooms and as usual, great photos. The purpurata in all it's variations is one of my favorites. Do you have every kind of purpurata? You've posted so many different ones it almost seems that you do. Thanks for sharing them, and please keep it up. Ed |
So many gorgrous purpuratas, so little space. At least I can drool over yours, Mauro!
