Cattleya mossiae

This is the current flowering of my cattleya mossiae alba x coerulea. Completely off-season, I agree. It is a plant that I always considered difficult to flower. Also this year during summer it was in the greenhouse with tomatoes. There was no rest period, the flowers appeared in the spathe directly after that they have completed their growth. Currently two pseudobulbs are growing and I suppose they should flower next year in May-June.

and especially for Jan Pahl, a close up of the label and the column

Very lovely flower. To me this looks more like a lueddemanniana than a mossiae. I could be wrong, but lets see what other members think.

You are maybe correct but I am not seeing what J.Pahl explain me a few months ago:

"Another very good way to distinguish the pure species is the anther cap, lueddemanniana is the only unifoliate that actually have bi-horned anther caps that resembles very much to "deer anthers". This feature is so common that all lueddemannianas without "deer anthers" or with partially develop ones on cultivation are suspected to be hybrids."

Oh wow! I have a mossiae (well we suspect it's one, it hasn't bloomed for years..) in bud at the moment so now I have an idea of what to expect!
May I ask.. how do you keep yours?
Beautiful plant!

Beautiful plant!

Give it the more light you can and fertilise it one time per week when it is growing.

Looks great! My first thought too was that it was lueddemanniana.

Thanks for the photo
Jan

Thank you Jan for your confirmation, but for me a question remains "Why is it flowering at this moment of the year"?

Thank you Jan for your perfectly comprehensible and very precise explanation. I note once again that between what is written in books and reality there are serious distances.
The only reference that I have is the Chadwick's book of (The classic cattleyas). They write:
"In United States, Catt lueddemanniana begins growing during the winter, and as soon the new growth is mature, it sends up buds and flowers in March and April with no rest period."
I don't know what is said about this subject in the Withmer's book.
After what I have observed these last days, you will easily understand my astonishment !

I have to add that it just comes to arrive on a French forum a presentation of a Cattleya lueddemanniana coerulea in flowers also. Here
Remark: I already have changed the identification tab of the plant and I made it irrevocably!
Thank you for your help.
