EpiWeb?
 

EpiWeb....Can anyone give me some info on this stuff? I never see it available in any of the supply or hydoponic stores, never see it anywhere except on the internet.

For what kind of orchids, is it recommended? I've read there are some members that use this with nothing else. What are it's advantages, disadvantages?

Epiweb is awesome, i grow alot of plants in it.
Any plant can basically be grown in Epiweb but i depends on your media.

Its advantages are that you cant overwater your plants, the material doesnt degrade and is reusable.

The plants potted in epiweb cubes are dunked or soaked every 2-3 days and misted almost daily.
The plants on epiweb slabs are soaked almost daily.

where can you buy it? what is the size of the cubes?
does it hold the plant or i need to tie it to the pot?

The Epiweb holds the plant down in the pot just fine, no need to tie it down.
I cut the cubes out of Epiweb slabs myself, i think Ray will be able to help you with acquiring Epiweb i believe he sells it.

Epiweb is produced in Sweeden. They have distributors in Europe, I think Roelke orchideen in Germany.

I have used EpiWeb (I think the name has changed to something like EcoWeb) cubes for a Vanda in a pot and small sheets to mount a couple of orchids. Takes a while for the roots to penetrate the sheets but they do.

Paramount in BC, Canada sells in in slabs. I have some Psycopsis mounted on it with a little NZ moss pad and they are doing great.

It is a potting material originating out of Europe that is made from recycled plastic that is designed to mimic tree fern.

So, these are one in the same? Can anyone tell me for which orchids they prefer using this over other mediums?

Epiweb is good for those species that have to dry completely before next watering.

Epiweb and Ecoweb are not the same. Ray has his own version.
