An Offer of Free Orchids

Hi everyone!!

I'm slightly embarrassed to be posting this, but here it goes.

I recently got it into my head that I could grow Stanhopeas outside here in my limited yard space in Miami. To that end, I ended up purchasing 5 Stanhopea seedlings and 1 large division from the Evil Troy Meyers.

However, I have come to realize that I really cannot offer them the proper cultural conditions, and would like to give the plants a good home.

Therefore, I am offering the plants to anyone here who can take care of them properly and is interested in taking them. I'm not interested in money---call it a gesture of friendship on my part--and a desire to give the plants a good home.

The only catch is that you have to be a REGISTERED member of the OB!!!

The offer is open to anyone until 1pm today EST. Sorry, for U.S. residents only please. :)

The seedlings are in 2x2 Aircone pots:

1) Stanhopea ecornuta
2) Stanhopea inodora
3) Stanhopea grandiflora
4) Stanhopea tigrina var. nigroviolacea
5) Stanhopea tigrina var. nigroviolacea (a different variety)

The large division is in a 5x5 air cone pot:

1) Stanhopea radiosa.

Just let me know on the OB which one you want and PM me with your mailing address. :)

Have a great day everyone!

******UPDATE******

Hi everyone.

Just to let you know that your orchids are somewhere in the bowels of the Post Office. They should arrive in 3-4 days.

Please send me a PM when you receive it. :)

Wow. I wish I wasn't half way around the world now. :(

Ted, if you think you could grow them, you can have whatever shipped to me and I could hold them for you until you return home. But I wouldn't think we could grow these well here in Idaho? I guess I'm just not familiar with their growing requirements!

Ok Peeps.

You get your stanhopea in the order I receive the PM.

Please email me with a first and second choice.

Thus far,

The radiosa and one nigroviolacea are taken. :)

:)

Just an update:

The grandiflora, one nigroviolacea and the larger radiosa are taken.

There's still the:

ecornuta
inodora
nigroviolacea

:)

(wink)

Ok Peeps,

The ecornuta has been adopted by another kind member of the OB.

You guys are great and I'm having fun.

So,

I think it's the inodora and one nigroviolacea left. :)
