Looking for information about Splash Cattleyas for our Orchid Newsletter

Hi,

I am a new member and actually have a need. I am the newsletter editor for the Bucks County Orchid Society.

Our April speaker topic is Splash Cattleyas. I would like a short paragraph about these plants to entice especially our newbies to come to this meeting. Most of what I have found on the net is too technical.

I would also like to have a copyright free photo or permission from the photographer to use a splash cattleya photo in the newsletter.

Many thanks in advance to any Orchid Angels out there.

Hi Joan...

Greg Allikas gives permission to use his photos in printed newsletters...and they're all gorgeous!

Find them at Orchid Photos
He just asks that his copyright, name and site are attributed to the photo.

We'd love to hear more about what you grow...we have a forum for Introductions. Let your new friends greet you properly :D

As a society member, you might want to take advantage of the private forums that Marty has made available to orchid clubs. It's a wonderful resource for your group.
The information is on the main forum page, near the top (Orchid Societies...Read this...)

Thank you for help of Splash Cattleyas

Hi again,

Thanks, Suzanne, for the tip about being able to use orchid photos. They are great photos. I am still trying to figure out how to use this board. You asked what I grow; I have a little of a lot of different orchids. I have a small solarium and grow under lights in the basement. I like Paphs and Phrags best, also Oncidiums do well for me. I have a number of Phals, a couple of Epi's; will have to look at labels to remember the rest. I have lots of thing in bloom at the moment, some for the first time. I also grow and winter over tropicals for my regular garden so my house is full of plants.

Hi Joan...
what are your questions about using the board? I'm sure we can help you with whatever it is :D

I love the pics on Greg's site and his generosity in allowing us to use them is astonishing :) Just make sure you attribute the picture to him as he states at the bottom of his home page.

i am not sure how to use the board

Dear Suzanne,

Thanks for getting back to me. i am not sure where I should be posting my questions, or where to look for answers. so far, you are the only person who has answered my questions. I am hoping our speaker for our April meeting will send me a paragraph about Splash Cattleyas as I haven't been able to find anything on the board. I haven't had time to read other posts so that perhaps I might be able to answer other people's questions.
Sign me a little confused
Joan :scratchhead:

You might want to post your question in the cattleya alliance section. You can search for posts by using the link in the top purple bar. Here's some info I found.
