understanding creation of new horticultural hybrid names

I have a question... I am quite confused how the RHS decides what and when a cross should be part of the new hybrid XXXXara or part of the old hybrid YYYY..

example:

As for my understanding (please correct me if I am wrong!!): a cross of 3 or more genera, have now the ending -ara, e.g. Wilsonara, Fredclarkeara, etc...

let's continue with Fredclarkeara... The first plant registered under this name was Fredclarkeara After Dark (Mormodia Painted Desert x Catasetum Donna Wise) in 2002. Mormodia is the cross between Clowesia and Mormodes. Therefore Fredclarkeara is Clowesia x Mormodes x Catasetum.

so, my question.. If in 2002 it has been accepted that Mormodia x Catasetum = Fredclarkeara, why in 2003 the cross Mormodia Jumbo Ruby x Catasetum Susan Fuchs has been registered as Mormodia Jumbo Susan (and not Fredclarkeara Jumbo Susan)? Then we can add that in 2008, Mormodes badia x Clowesetum Jumbo Lace, was registered as Fredclarkeara Jumbo Lac!

Si I can assume that any cross involving Catasetum, mormodes and Clowesia should be called Fredclarkeara, right?

then we have:

1996. Clowesia x Mormodes = Mormodia
2002. Mormodia x Catasetum = Fredclarkeara
2003. Mormodia x Catasetum = Mormodia
2008. Mormodes x clowesetum = Fredclarkeara
2009. Mormodes x Clowesia = Mormodia

Would the following crosses be:

Catamodes x Clowesia = Fredclarkeara (Note: Catamodes = Catasetum x Mormodes :)

and

Fredclarkeara x Catasetum = Fredclarkeara x Clowesia = Fredclarkeara x Mormodes = Clowesetum x Catamodes = Mormodia x Catamodes = Mormodia x Clowesetum = Fredclarkeara

can someone explain how this is actually done at RHS?

any combination of those three genera would be Fredclarkeara. Mormodia Jumbo Susan was registered incorrectly. if you find any mistakes in the orchid registry, you can notify them at orcreg@rhs.org.uk

RHS is good about just accepting any info supplied by the registrant. Mistakes slip through. I guess that's why they're the RHS and not the Royal Botanical Society.
