Mounted Phal. parishii
1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,
With lots of helpful advice from this forum, and some specific help from King-of-orchid-growing (thanks!:)) I've mounted my first orchid and thought I'd share it. It's not in bloom, I'm afraid, but fingers crossed it'll be happy on it's new mount! I'd welcome any advice if you think I should have done anything differently... It's a first attempt :blushing: Nicky |
I think it looks pretty good. And a nice looking piece of wood also.

Thanks Bill, it's mopani root from the pet shop!!

What the heck is mopani root? King of orchids said to use a special (can't switch to that screen & back here!!!)spagnum moss. Is this the same thing?

Mopani root is the root of a mopani tree - it's what I attached the sphag to before I mounted the Phal. on it. It's something that is sold for fish tanks, but it has lots of nooks and crannys and I thought it would look nice on the side board! |
Nicky, you did a nice job of mounting your phal.
|
Thanks Ted! :)
|
So is it a wood or like lava rock? I will go to the pet store this week to check it out. Thanks!
