What is this?

A friend gave me this orchid two days ago. It is almost certainly a species, taken from the trees in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The climate would be warm, nothing lower than 50 degrees F. Wet overcast summer, dry winters.
I'm pretty sure it's an oncidium, since it's very similar, and my other oncidiums are in bloom now. |
Hi wj :D Welcome to Orchidboard :cheer:
You should make a stop in our Introductions forum...I'm sure our members would like to meet you  I don't know what your plant is but I think it's gorgeous! What a great color! I can't wait to see what the name of it is :) |
I'm guessing that your plant may be a form of Miltonia moreliana

This looks like Miltonopsis regnelii, native to lower elevation Minas Gerais, Brazil (Mantiqueira)... :) Beautiful plant and great flower!

Thanks everybody
You're very right. It looks just like the Miltonia regnellii on this site: IOSPE PHOTOS
I was really glad to get some hints about what it likes, and especially to know not to worry about the yellow leaves. Fantastic to have it identified so quickly. |
I think you got it, what a beautiful bloom.
