Windowsill Cattleya in basket?

Hello Catt fans. A few days ago I purchased my first Cattleya. It is C. Carl Hausermann "Founder." The plant is quite large, it has 15 pseudobulbs and is about 15 inches tall not including the pot. A south facing window will be its home. Would a 10 or 12 inch teak basket be a good idea? Any tips on growing and blooming this plant would be welcome. I have a Phal and a Den growing and rooting happily but this is my first Catt and I LOVE this plant! It is an awesome orchid!

I have a large Beallara, an Oncidium intergeneric and a large Brassia in a south window. They are in 8" waterlily baskets. These are really nice because they are totally open on sides and bottom (like a plastic net) and fine enough that stuff doesn't fall through the holes. The baskets come very large if you need them. They are wider than tall, so allow for a really large plant without getting to deep. I got mine at Home Depot.

Norton,

Follow Ross advice. Those baskets are really nice. You also have the special slotted clay orchid pots. They are a little more expensive than standard pots, but the slots greatly increase airflow through the potting medium, lessening the chances of root rot.
Also slatted teak and cedar baskets come ina a variety os sizes and shapes and develop a wonderful gray patina with age.
Hope it helps!
