new growths in september!?

i have a handfull of different oncidium types that have completed some new bulbs this year. but now that they're complete, or nearing completion (and some of them are flowering! yay!) i'm starting to see NEW shoots appear! and it's september!

i thought that they would start new growths in spring and slow down or stop new growths this late in the year. have i confused my plants?

also, i have a paph lowii who hasn't budged all year but it just now putting out two new growths.

and my dendrobium (not the kind that needs a winter rest) is starting a whole new cane!

also, if a plant is beginning a new shoot and the plant gets stressed and stops growing- will it abandon the new growth, temporarily stop and then continue later, or what?

one of my oncidiums got a wee bit sunburnt while it was growing new shoots and the new shoots haven't moved an inch in a month or two.

thank guys

Congrats on your new growths! I swear, orchids have their own internal clock. Besides, our weather has been "off" lately, so many things are causing our orchids to veer off course and do their own thing. Not sure about the stunted growth due to stress. I would think it will begin again in it's own time, but I'm not real sure. :goodluck:

my Oncs do the same thing. They put out new growths all year long, and bloom when a growth is mature enough. I did notice that the growths don't grow as fast in the winter months, although last winter they did grow faster since I installed better lighting for them.
