Identification please?
2 Attachment(s)
Hello,
Last year I won this plant after a quiz (just the pot and the plant, no identification). At that time it had no flowers. I didn't do much with it and now there are two beautiful flowers. I posted some pictures. I already have some Phalaenopsis, Oncidium and Dendrobium. Can somebody tell me what kind of orchid it is? Many thanks. |
I would guess something in the Cattleya alliance but I couldn't guess closer than that, maybe one of the experts will know more.

It is definetly a complex Cattleya hybrid. It is also undoubtedly a mass-produced clone. You might check out websites from nurseries either in Taiwan or Hawaii and you can pobably match it. It is lovely and there are not that many quality green hybrids out there.
Hope that helps, Eric |
It hard to gauge the true color of your green beauty from the picture. Here's are 2 links to a green cattleya hybrid- Blc. Greenwich 'Elmhurst'.
It's not the same thing- the lip on yours is more ruffled and more magenta but as you can see the 2 pictures in the links are not identical. T-4462 Blc. Greenwich 'Elmhurst'-4" pot http://www.odoms.com/images/inventory/5C184.jpg Many growers in Hawaii and Florida have green catt hybrids. It may at least give you a clue as to similar hybrids. You won't be able to find it's name for certain, but lots of folks on OB give their NoID orchids names of their own-- just so the NoIDs don't feel unloved:) bingo |
A big thank you to everyone :D It really looks a lot like the pictures in the link.
