Fungi

Could some of you from the wetter/hotter areas of this earth, tell me their methods for treating fungus infections; both preventative and curable.

Appreciate it.

There is no effective cure for fungus.

The best treatment is to cut out the infected area.

Prevention for a hobbyist is good clean conditions and good air circulation.

Prevention at the commercial level is expensive and the chemicals are dangerous. In fact they are not legal to sell to hobbyist. Most can not be used more than twice a year so that requires at least three families of drugs at $100-500 each. Add to that air respirators, full body spray garments, gloves, hats etc.

Even commercially I have a hard decision between just destroying the number of plants infected each year and spraying. Usually destruction of the plants is cheaper than prevention.

Wow...good thing I didn't know there was no cure for fungus infestations BEFORE I started growing orchids.

I've never heard this before.

Use cinnamon on the cut out area (good fungicide)

Thank you Orchid3. I have never used cinnamon. Is it a curative or preventative method.
