Phal flower spike - cut or not to cut
I had a new phal join my home earlier this year. It is a mini (no id), but has darker green leaves, had dark purple flowers about the size of a quarter growing on a dark purple to almost black flower spike. Now that all the flowers have dropped, I am unsure if I should cut it. All of my other phal spikes turn brown all the way down, so I cut them off at the base. Since this one is so dark, how can I tell? Since there was no id, I have no idea of its breeding / background. Any advice?

I would cut it back to 1 inch above the last node before the first flower (did that make any sense?).
Who knows, it may branch or keiki. If it doesn't, it will just start to dry up and you can cut it then. bingo |
I'm a big fan of the advice Ray always gives.
Take a look at the link below. First Rays - Spike Cutting |
