Hello all......auto watering question

I am new to the Orchids and have Vandas. In Florida and the Vandas are in our pool cage and seem happy. I want to install a auto watering system with a timer and basically was looking for guidance on the misters or watering heads. The Orchids hang on the edge of the lenai and the plan so far is either pvc tubing and some sort of screw in misting nozzles.....any guidance appreciated.

You can probably get everything you need at a local hardware store or Home Depot. If not, try an irrigation supply store, they usually know more and can be more helpful.

I have this sort of system in my greenhouse. I run the misters down the center, up high. They are in PVC (painted black to try and eliminate algea growth).

The actual watering is run along above each rack. For those I used irrigation tubing and sprinkler heads. I have a few different zones for watering, on different schedules.

Everything is run off an irrigation timer. It's a very basic model that I got at Home Depot here.

It has all worked pretty well for years now.

Pictures (probably not all that helpful, but . . . )
1. The timer
2. The sprinkler nozzles in irrigation tubing
3. the mister nozzles in PVC.

If you have more questions, I'll try to answer them, but it's really a different environment in greenhouse vs. outdoors, and I just know what has worked for me. Mechanically, though everything should function the same.

Ed
