This flower spike is taller than the plant.

I don't have a lot of time to shoot photos (I prefer natural light) and sometimes I have to shoot many flowers in fading or variable light very quickly. So I just hold the plant with one hand and shoot with the other.

I know there's a difference in color depending on type of light source (film in the old days) and even time of day or cloud cover. But with us amateurs and film, we just lived with the funny colors or used filters.

You probably know this already, but I didn't until several years ago ... so I'll mention it. Digital cameras have a feature called "white balance". It's a very important compensation for the type of light source when you're taking the photo. If you already know about the white balance adjustment, I find that sometimes you can't just go by the name of the type of light. You still have to fiddle around. But with digital cameras and the subject in front of you, you can adjust for the right color.

By the way. You have some really nice species ... good stuff. And you're growing in Nebraska ... must be tough!

That is beautiful! :D It looks like you've got a great bloomer there with two spikes...if that's another I see in the background.

I'm still waiting for mine to produce spikes this year, but at least I can enjoy yours while I'm waiting. :nod:

I have two plants and one of them just finished blooming.
The species has been used to create some crosses and most of them are preety.
