Repotting upward growing plants

How do I repot some of the orchids where the next bulb is a little higher? Are these better mounted?

Well you could mount it or you could shove it into a pot-
It really depends on your growing conditions, I personally make sure the newest growth is at pot level if it keeps climbing than so be it, the older growths get dug down a little lower in the medium.

I have oncs that grow upward like that. I repot the same way (lowest bulbs just above the surface) and the bulbs up high just make longer roots to get to the medium. I might do something about it one day, but for nw they're just fine like that. Making spikes too. Can you imagine burying the lwoer bulbs of a Max tenuifolia? That orchid grows so upward that you'd have to bury everything except the top 2 bulbs!

Im kinda wondering about that also. I have some Bulb's. that i want to repot. I have a Bulb. frostii, Bulb. lasiochilum thats doing it real bad, Bulb. thaiorum that isn't to bad, but they all go in a vertically mounted pot. The Bulb. lasiochilum has yet to be mounted that way.

Some people stick a mount into the potting media - if the plant wants to climb onto the mount thats ok - if it wants to grow into the media - thats ok too. Some want to do both. A nice piece of cyprus stuck into the pot works well.
