Neofinetias in bloom
The blooming season starts in May every year with the Toyozakura being the first one to bloom
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._0038Small.jpg the second one is always the Onami Seikai http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...059Small-1.jpg supposed to be upward facing flowers, but my light source is at an angle so the flowers are funky looking. hopefully with the new HID light setup, it'll bloom next year with truely upward facing flowers :) Then Shuntennou comes into bloom, along with Tamagawa and Ran No Hikari http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._0084Small.jpg Tamagawa http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._0089Small.jpg Ran no Hikari http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._0087Small.jpg and when they are just on their way out, the last batch all come into bloom Hoshiguruma, the spurless variety http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._0093Small.jpg Gojofukurin http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...096Small-1.jpg Setzusan http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._0103Small.jpg and two of my first neos, nameless variety http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3..._0104Small.jpg I love sitting in the living room where the Neos are on display.. it smells divine! |

My Neostylis seems to bloom much earlier than your do. It would be fun to have that many blooming in late spring as opposed to late winter early spring as most of my different orchids do.
Maybe I'll have to look into some more Neofinetias! Beautiful ideed! |
Hey thanks, I was wondering why my setsuzan wasn't spiking yet with the others lol. I have a weird hybrid neo falcata x holcoglossum kimballiana (sp?) i haven't ever seen the blooms. i bought it as a seedling from hoosier orchids and they had not bloomed any yet. Maybe this will be the year. Any idea what to expect with that combo?

I love them all. In the past I have not had much luck with my Neofinetia. I bought two and lost one.I ordered two more and I intend to try growing these in a basket with charcoal and hang them with my vanda seedlings. Wish me luck:tapfoot::tapfoot::tapfoot::tapfoot:

Marilyn, I thought you were going to mount them, but it will be interesting to see how they do in charcoal. good luck.

I have my Neostylis Lou Sneary 'Bluebird' in medium bark, charcol and rock bits in a clear pot with extra slits cut in the side. I had it before in a very open plastic pot/basket in the same medium with a bit of moss over the top. It dried out too fast. The new clear pot holds the moisture a bit longer. It seems to be doing fine as it is putting up another new leaf and a new root is starting.
