Help! Brassia leaves turning yellow
2 Attachment(s)
I could really use some advice! I bought a Brassia Spider's Gold 'Prolific' from Cal-Orchid three weeks ago. Now two leaves on one of the pseudobulb are turning yellow. The rest of the pseudobulbs and leaves all look good (to my untrained eye).
A little information on how I am caring for it: I thoroughly water it once a week by soaking it in a weak fertilizer solution for 5 minutes. In between then, about every other day I spray the top of the bark with a spray bottle. It is outside on my patio that faces West, so during most of the day it is in shade. I live in Santa Barbara so the climate is about 70-75 during the day, and low 60's to high 50's at night. |
Just old leaves. Old leaves turn yellow and fall off. It looks fine.

Even the smaller leaf?

The yellowing leaves on either side of the pseudobulb were there since the shoot was young and getting larger. Those have been there a while already.
You'll see with the newer shoots you have growing about what I mean. |
Thanks so much! I won't worry about it any more.

Gee, you said it gets mostly shade? I grow mine in bright light. Did you get a culture sheet or something that told you to grow in shade? As far as the yellowing of the leaves, I agree with the others...they are older leaves.

Oh, and if you do find out it takes sun, not shade, please introduce it very gradually, okay?
