Need some advise
A friend of mine has presented me with a can of 'Flower Glo'. I dont know if this can be used on orchid plants.
The label merely says "Ready to use supplement for healthier plants. Naturally occuring humus fortified with micronutrients suitable for all indoor and outdoor plants." The label further says "Improves blooming of flowers Ensures glossier and healthier leaves. Enhances photosynthesis. Enhances faster growth through beneficial enzymes and auxins. Controls stomata openings and regulates plant metabolism" Is this suitable for orchid plants? There is no dosage given it merely says useas a spray as is once every two weeks. The packaging/label does not disclose the conyents or composition of this mix. Would love to hear your comments and advice on this new feed. Thanks in advance |
I have never heard of that product, but can offer a few comments.
1) Any product with that much hype probably won't live up to them. 2) Controlling stomata??? Why would we want to do that, and what is it supposed to accomplish? Considering how orchids have evolved to have a minimal number of stomata compared to most terrestrial plants, I would not expect much anyway. That said, there are potential benefits to some of the ingredients you mentioned - humates and auxins especially - but foliar treatment is typically ineffective in orchids. Lastly, while such supplements can be beneficial, for the most part, if you're doing a good job growing, they add little, if anything. |
Thanks Ray. Since my friend has presented it to me I do not want to pour it down the drain.
Do you think I can dilute it and try using it? Say 1/3 mixed with 2/3 water. What do you think? |
