Potting more than one Phal in one pot

Do Phals thrive if they share a pot? If I put two phals in one pot (medium to large plants) how do I tell how big the pot should be? (If they will thrive well together)

Thanks!

I wouldn't. They are going to be competing for root space, and think of the tangled mess you'd have when it's time to repot!

Seedlings are often planted in community pots (compots). Breeders, and the rest of use with limited space, allow those seedlings to grow to maturity and flower in the compots. At that point, the breeder would select out the best.
Kerry's Orchids of Florida supplies many big box stores and other east coast outlets. They pot their Phal seedlings in four in pots for retail. To achieve a six inch pot, they combine two four inch plants.

Kerry's

I think your idea will work fine.

I bought a pot with two phals in it; the grower apparently didn't have any better luck than I did in trying to separate them without damage. They're doing fine, though I probably wouldn't put two phals in a pot unless I intended to keep them that way.

Two plants in one pot is essentially what you get if your Phal grows a basal keiki. However, when plants share a pot what happens to one will happen to the other, both good and bad. And of one of the plants already has a problem then you're simply giving it to the other. I agree it looks nice, and I've seen a number of plants on commercial shelves potted together, but I'd personally not do it.
