NOID Dendrobium

I'm pretty sure this is a dendrobium, but can anyone tell me the species?

Thanks,

I've got a feeling that Dendrobiums, like Phals, have so many hybrids that it is almost impossible to ID them.

I could be wrong though and maybe someone else will chime in.

Should have mentioned that I saw this growing on a tree in Papua New Guinea - so more likely to be a species than a hybrid. Although it could have been imported and attached to the tree.

Latourea hybrid is a bit uncommon.

If it is indeed a species, it has striking resemblance to Dendrobium johnsoniae.

Hope this helps. And by the way, it is a lovely dendrobium.

I can't help with the ID, but it is lovely.

I thought the same as Psyched. According to book by Howard Wood, The Dendrobiums, flowers on most recent mature lead, abaxial/pseudoterminal upto 15 flowers. flower diameter more than 7.5 cm, lasts up to 2 months, and bloom time is variable.
For the culture he said it was Intermediate, lots of light and water year round, vulnerable to stem and root rot, suggest mounts better than pots. He considered it a difficult plant to bloom from seedling.

Sorry for long post, thought I'd give info too. What ever it is, is very nice, enjoy.
