Hello from Seattle
 

Hi All,

I am new to the forum, and relatively new to orchids. I have 5 Phals, all were purchased without blooms on them (or tags) from various places, so every time one blooms it is a surprise! My oldest plant is about 7 years old.

I also have two Oncidium, a genus new to me. Both were impulse purchases at Trader Joes, I have a Lava Burst and a Blue Birds. The Blue Birds I just bought yesterday, and it seems in rough shape, so I am crossing my fingers. The Lava burst is just getting ready to flower for the second time!

Anyway, I am happy to have found this forum, it is always good to have advice and experience close at hand!

It's a really great place to learn about orchids, and to enjoy pictures of other people's orchids (you'll soon want to buy lots more as a result).

Lava Burst is a great orchid, the blooms are so pretty! I hope you will post pictures for us when it finally blooms. :) Do you have any :photo: of your phals? As you'll soon discover, we really love seeing pictures of what other people are growing!

It sounds like you have been pretty successful making your orchids happy. I promise the OB will make them even happier! :) Seriously, this site is very informative, but also very friendly. Kind of like an online orchid society - we're all friends here. Glad you found us, welcome!

Thanks guys! I am excited to be here, I am already learning a lot, and I have had orchids for almost a deacade!

I do have some pictures of my orchids, but I am just sort of learning how to take decent ones. I only have a point and shoot, but it takes pretty darn good macro pictures. My avatar and profile pic are my Blue Birds, but I will post some soon !
