Cryptanthus 'Pink Star'
 

'Red Star' would have made more sense to me. Oh well. It looked like it was going to flower but shortly after this all the buds/bracts turned brown. :((

Red Star would be a better name, but it sure is pretty.

You're right, I think Red Star would have been more accurate. I've got one that fits 'Pink Star' better.

It might still bloom. My pink one had buds when it arrived (a gift from a friend). Then the bracts shriveled up for a few days and I thought the flowers had blasted or something. Then I noticed the dry bracts were starting to swell and then flowers emerged rather quickly. They don't last long, but they are kinda cool. Though IMO, most broms, especially cryptanthus, have such beautiful leaves they don't even need flowers.
