Euphorbia cyparissias, an alien euphorb. Its invasive covering the meadows, not letting the native stuff grow.
Forysthia, <-- a common ornamental shrub. Its Chineese, not native. Gill over the ground, another alien species, grows densly and smothers other stuff out. Spice bush, a native. People should replace Forsythia with this one. It smells and tastes great. Like Pinesol cleaner. Cute little meadow voles, poor babies got tagged in the ears. Norway maples are in bloom, anyone feeling the allergies yet? Also invasive!!!!! This tree can take over a forested area in 10 years. Creates a monoculture. Just say no to invasives, grow more natives! Made in America only. |

Palm Warblers. Isn't it cute?
Sanguineria canadensis Blood root! Native, very pretty. Trillium cernuum, if you look closely it is in bud. I hoping this is indeed cernuum as it is hard to find in bloom. Common name is the nodding Trillium. Trilliums are toad shade. Tufted titmouse, a pair becoming friendly with each other. Vinca minor, the lesser periwinkle. People love these in their gardens for ground cover. Its evergreen and smothers out the weeds. Unfortunately they smother out native plants when they escape the garden and enter the parks. Say NO to non natives. Made in America only!! |

Acer negundo, box elder
Garlic mustard, Aliaria petiolata, stinky leaves, invasive, covers the forest floor, crowds out other stuff. Grow American only! Ranunculus ficaria, Lesser celendine, or also known as the false marsh marigold. I wonder if this one crowded out the native marsh marigold? This one is invasive, for sure!! And is foreign. A nice redwing blackbird. Isn't it cute? A blue violet. I think its a Northern Blue, but I have hard time distinguishing between all of them. Anyone have any clue? |
