Vanda NOID

Okay I got this Vanda without knowing if it's species or hybrid. Help in IDing is lots appreciated.
|
Very close to being the species, Vanda denisoniana.
|
Yes very close to Vanda denisoniana but I'm not sure from what is seen from the leaves. Vanda denisoniana doesn't have plicated leaves but "flat" leaves who are twisted at the tip. If it is this specie the flowers should be waxy, 5-6 cm and quite fragant but only in the morning and the evening.

One other option is Ascocenda Mem. Thianchai. I'm not sure about flower or plant detail of this plant. By the photos it also is very close.
|
Thanks guys for the input. Well I guess I can cross out Vanda denisoniana as the possible ID. It doesn't have any noticeable fragrance.

hello again,
my knowledge about hybrids is very poor , can not hepl you about that. The flowers of denisoniana I had were less round than yours, but it's ok as the specie have different shape of flowers. Some tips to help you to indentifie Vanda denisoniana for sure : the labellum of the flower is separated by 5 (exactly 5, not less or more) "lines", "crests" and there's a touch of orange at the base of it, the flower are fragant on the morning and evening only. The plant is a medium size Vanda (max. 50 cm), the leaves are flat and, on the tip, they are falling and twisted. If it's Vanda denisoniana you should find all those constants on your flowers/plant. here a pict of Vanda denisoniana to help you to compare. |
I'm guessing Denisonia is one of the parents (it has similar colors and a similar flower). :hmm
