It was kind of bright today, so these pics are not exactly stellar. Anyway, I picked this little gem up a few weeks ago and cannot take credit for the blooms or new growth. Im surprised by how quickly the blooms fade. Either these are short lived flowers or something is trying to fertilize the flowers and is taking the the pollen. Any thoughts? :scratchhead: And the smell is kinda like a cheese whose name escapes me. Its not pleasant!!!

Oh no! Stinky cheese? :gasp:

How the heck did one of these make it into my collection? It's gorgeous, yes...but...stinky cheese? :faint:

Thanks Steve :coverlaugh:

lol Luckily the flowers are small and you have to stick your nose right in to get a whiff!

Wow nice!!! Love the Masdie like blooms on this one. Its reason I went out and got one. Maybe your blooms are blasting. If the plant gets some time to settle, the next time it blooms I hope they would last longer. Ofcourse this is armchair theory. I have no practical experience in this except that when I bought mine with 5 spikes, they all blasted before blooming.

Now you just blew my plan Steve...I was all ready to convince Sue that she needed to send it over to my house to escape the stench! L:biggrin:

:hmm
Definitely a plausible theory. The flower that I took a pic of is lasting longer, so maybe its settling in. The weird thing about this plant is that all the flowers are coming from old bulbs (as in 2 growths ago!!). Strange little plant!

Interesting you should say that because my Bulb. dearei, one of the two only other Bulbs I have seen in spike decided to spike from a really old bulb rather than from a newer one. Infact, that bulb had lost its leaf a long time ago. Maybe thats just the way these guys work.
