It is a beauty!!!! Sometimes the fragrance comes a couple days later. I know that has happened to me before. Nice growing! :)

I agree, for many, it takes a few days for it to come thru. Sometimes it'll only happens when the lights go off

Sweet white one - LOVE the golden splash on the lip :D

Very nice!
As noted above it can take several days for the scent to come through, and a lot of white flowers are night scented, so check it out by the light of the moon!

Orchid fragrance

Orchids are very intelligent in what is necessary for survival. They have survived for over a million years.

Fragrance is their attraction for the insect that will fertilize it (some orchids are fertilized by birds).

The orchid will only dispense the scent when the insect might be around and only when the flower is ready to be fertilized.

As a result you seldom have scent when a flower first opens. It can take several days for the flower to be mature enough to be fertilized. They will not release scent until it is time.

Then they will only release scent when the insect may be present. B nodosa and many of its hybrids are fertilized by a night moth and therefor fragrant only after dark. Most orchids will not release a scent when it is cold or rainy and insects will not be traveling.

I usually say they are like women and only put on perfume when the men are around.
