Onc. Lambama 'Cutey'
 

Picked this one up at the NY Botanical Garden orchid show. My big question is whether to repot it now (you can see the roots and crowding in the pics) or wait until after it has finished flowering.

Additionally, I'm wondering if, when I transplant it, I should try splitting it into two plants. With nearly a dozen pseudobulbs...

Really love the flowers on this one, small and numerous, and I think it complements the many deep green leaves nicely.

personally I wait til plant is finished blooming unless I am worried about what I may find in the pot. outgrowing a pot isn't an emergency - chids seem to do just fine

what size pot is that in?
again personally - I don't divide plants unless the size is unmanageable or I want to share a division with someone

guess it comes down to your preferance

It seems healthy, no leaves rotting and the visible roots seem well enough.

I'm considering splitting it for practice, no other motivation. It might also depend how easy it is once I see how the roots are.

The pot is 2.5" on bottom rising to 3" on top and is square.

kewl - personally I wouldn 't divide it but go up in pot size - but thats just me :)

NO dont divide it.. unless u want to share it to someone... well if ur an expert... u can divide it and in luck ull be able to rebloom your onc in a couple of months... but... the downside in repotting is dat... u wont increase the number of flower count... the larger the plant grows... the more flower count and spike ull be getting.

You don't want to really divide this, do you? Just think of the show it'll put on next year. Pot up a size! You won't get as many spikes from 2 divisions as you will if you keep it all together. It's gorgeous!

Looks like the votes are in. Next year we'll have a nice big show :)

Now I have to go research whether it'll spike again from the same pseudobulbs, when to stop watering this particular one in NYC, when to transplant it, etc.
