New roots above or below the LECA in s/h?

Have this one Phal (Golden Peoker x Brother Fancy) that hasn't grown any roots in over a year and only 1 root on the whole plant, the leaf's are limp, it just sits there doing nothing. It's just now beginning to grow some new roots so, I decided to put it in s/h today (The LECA I'm using is Hydroton.)

My question is...where, in the LECA do I place the Phal? Do I submerge the roots in or just above the LECA? Does it matter?

Thanks for your help with this.:bowing

I have all my phals in s/h. I fill the bottom of the pot with LECA and place the plant in the pot, pour LECA in to cover the roots, while gently tapping the pot on the counter so it fills between the roots. (Basically plant just like any medium.) Then fill the pot with water/fertilizer, wait until it drains and put it back on the windowsill.

make sure the old root is ABOVE the maximum waterline or it will rot very quick. and then just fill it up to the btm leaf. thatz wat i do
