when can i just put my Dend nobile outside??
what nighttime minimum temps would be ok for just putting my nobile outside WITHOUT acclimating it over a few days??
i am just too lazy to take it out in the morning and back in at night |
Putting your Dend nobile outside.
Greetings. First it would help to know where you reside.
I live in Massachusetts and grow in a sunroom and use lights. This is what I do. I acclamate them slowly towards the natural sunlight. When the temps around here are a steady 50 to 55 degrees during the day and do not drop below 40 at night then they are put out and when they do go out they are kept under 60% shade cloth. Knowing this site I'm quite sure someone else will provide you with an answer. Good Luck. |

Without acclimatization is an interesting variable to throw in the equation.
With acclimatization here's an instance of Dendrobium nobile subjected to 26F for several hours and here's a Dendrobium nobile that's experimentally being grown outdoors year around in Ireland. Without acclimatization is anybody's guess but if kept on the dry side I would be surprised if your nobile had problems tolerating temperatures just above freezing. Not sure when that occurs in your area. |
