Cyc peruviana needs help
 

I received this plant from Ecuagenera today. Nice plant, with 2 p-bulbs and a spike! The problem is, after its lengthy trouble wrapped in sphag, and with newspaper, the base of both p-bulbs is starting to rot! I have just sprinkled cinnamon around the base in hope to stop the rot and save the flower spike, but is that enough? What should I do? :(

Did you by any chance buy today at Van Deusen Gardens? I would take it back . Festival is for two days. I got some plants from them today and actually unwrapped the newspaper and examined the roots before handing over $$$

Sorry, I didn't take any pictures. Yesterday I dusted the area with cinnamon and just left it on the table to dry out. Today the rot area is dried up, and it looks like pitted prune.I have carefully put the plant in a slender pot with dry Dyna-Rok. The rest of the cane looks fine and the flower stalk seems to be bigger today.

I did talk to the Ecuagenera representative, but since it is a pre-ordered plant, they didn't have any other ones at the sale. Instead, I picked a totally different plant, a Masd. coccinea as a replacement :)
