Cool vs. Warm Lighting
I have an 18" x 18" x 18" Exo Terra tank with various types of orchids*. I currently have four Sun Blaze T5 lights, all 6500k cool. The tank does receive some indirect light from a window approx. 3ft. away but it is insignificant.
Should I replace one/two of my lights with warm T5? Will blooming be a problem? All plants look healthy and grow plenty of roots/leaves. Thanks for the suggestions. :groupwave: *Specific list of plants: Bulbophyllum frostii Bulbophyllum moniliforme Chiloschista usneoides (Cirr.) Bulb. makoyanum (Cirr.) Bulb. medusae Cryptochilus lutea Dendrobium aberrans Dendrobium moniliforme (benikida) Dendrobium moniliforme (shiraaya) Dendrobium rigidum Encyclia tampensis Epidendrum longirepens Epigenium nakahari Gastrochilus japonicus Isabella pulchella Lepanthes manabina Lepanthes telipogoniflora Neofinetia falcata Paph NOID Phalaenopsis mini mark 'holm' Phalaenopsis lobbii Platystele umbellata Pleurothallis ornata (schiedei) Psychopsiella limminghei Porpax ustulata Sedirea japonica Tolumnia red barry Tolumnia hawkesiana |
No need to do that since you already have the tubes. I only recommend a blend for esthetic reasons - the flower's true colors are more apparent with 5000K lighting. The plant doesn't care, as long as most of it's spectrum needs are met - which they will be with those tubes.

Thanks Ross. I like that answer!
