Yes I would repot this. If you only have a few cymbs I used to water by dunking the whole pot in a bucket of water IF the orchid was as grown out in the pot as yours. If it has been recently repotted, then just water from above the soil when in flower or completely over the leaves when not in bloom

Scotkat.. Cymbidiums will tolerate a wide range of media. You should adjust it according to your watering so that the drainage and retention of water are for your rain or watering. I use a mix of Orchid bark, Coconut chips, 40% each and 20% perlite. I line the bottom of the pot with styrofoam peanuts. That works for me. Others use straight coconut chips, others straight bark (breaks down fast so not as good except New Zealand Orchiata bark), and some even cinder. I do not use compost or fine material ..generally medium size for any pot over 1 gallon. Oh yes I also add Gypsum and Dolomite. Keeps the pH even

Hello Whiterabbit I have only one Cymbidium Noid. Got it at a grocery outlet. Its very large and in full bloom. Any idea what the name might be? I do think it needs to be repotted. Would a one gallon nursery pot do as I can't find a larger similar pot its in.

:hello

I'm sorry - can't help you with the name - but its lovely!
Several of my cyms are box store noids - doesnt make them any less beautiful :)

Yes - when mine need to be potted up I go to the gallon nursery pots. So far I haven't need larger than that lol

I'm glad you decided to try out some cyms - they're pretty hardy plants for the most part. I have only killed one - that was from neglect - the interesting thing is all of my cyms were neglected just as much and didn't die! ;)

Good luck with your cyms - and come join the group if you are interested!
