Phal. equestris 'Three Times Lady' x 'Blue Too'

I hope I didn't butcher the name. I decided to mount this one on my Dracaena fragrance (Dragon Tree/Corn Plant):

And here is the Phal:

and a closeup of that flower

Hope you all like it. Any opinions on whether or not it will make there?

It might be ok there if it gets enought light and water , water is a problem it wants to be moist , might end up rotting the big plant . Could put it in a basket in Spag. if you don't want to pot it . Gin

I would guess it would make it. Dracena and Phals are not THAT far apart in requirements. Dracena will appreciate very high light but I have to believe other spp live on and under the shade of their leaves. I'd be interested in your results. Thanks for the guts to try something different!

Thanks. First day results. Because of the dryness in my apartment during the day, I have to spray it 3 or 4 times a day!!! Other wise it gets really dry. There are some spot lights on it, and it recieves lots of light in the morning when its sunny outside. I hope it does well. But at the first hint that it is suffering, I will pot it up is sphag. Thanks Gin for the idea!

I was thinking I should add sphagnum moss to the roots to keep it more humid during the day???

Wendy 01-11-2007 10:58 PM

Cool idea. You could even drape some spanish moss around the roots for added humidity.

With damp sphagnum moss wrapped around the corn plant I will bet it will send out it own roots into the moss.

:hmmSpanish Moss you say. I like that idea.

Neat idea - something I would love to do, but I know the moment I try and do something like that, my cats would think that little guy was a toy and I'd find it in the water or food bowl
