Hello from NE PA!

Well I guess Ill introduce myself to make it Official.. Love the Board ( Knock up job Admins )
Im A Newbie to all this. I got no Clue to be honest.. Im a saltwater coral addict @ heart . The Wife and mother Inlaw
wanted a garden to Grow various Plants and veggies so as the Man I Am i Built a GreenHouse  ( note: there will be a wild coral set up in there.. works for both of us )
Alot of stuff transfers over from my hobby. ph,co2, temp, dedication. ect ect.. .. never the less i built a 12x12 with plenty of room to expand ( yea you know it will get bigger)
and got a bit hooked myself... hell its tropical in there;)
something about it being 20 deg outside and 80 inside thats just appealing.. so far we got 600+ plants growing .. time to move on to the plants I loved .. the Orchids .. thats the run down. ill post some pics shortly .

Hi and welcome to Orchid Board!
Saltwater coral, how neat! I'd love to see pictures :) Sounds like your family has a green thumb, funny how those types tend to attract one another huh? That's great you build your own greenhouse... do you happen to be available this Summer? JK My hubby is pretty set on building something this summer.
What type of orchids do you have or are interested in?

Wonderful pictures! The coral is so cool looking, very pretty.
Nice greenhouse too! Looks like you've got plenty of room.... for now! ;)

ohh and i guess some specs would be nice....
12x12. all built in 6' sections so its easy dismantle and maintain when needed. majority is 6mill double wall polycarb. heating is 25k radiant lp. .. cooling i havent got to yet..will be DIY evap system .. still waiting on pavers for the floor to add in the heat retention for next winter. .. maybe a water wall also.. not sure yet... gonna take it as it arises.. got a long path ahead..
thanks for all the kind words..

Reef and Orchids bad combo for the wallet

dude I love the acroporas. I myself use to be a reef head. but i lost my whole tank to mourjano anenomes. I got pics of my fifty gallon reef when it was in its prime. they are located in my picture gallery. yep $5000 right down the tube because of a anenome that spread like crazy. nice orange monitpora to by the way. I will do it again someday, but I want to go with the nano reef instead. alot less work and money. Oh and by the way growing acroporas and reef stuff in general its uncanny on how the hobbies of reef keeping and orchid cultiviation go hand and hand. acros love high light and good water current so do cattleya and vandas. even the minor and major trace elements are very similar. Im sure you will pick this hobby up just as fast as I did.Oh and welcome to the orchidboard

Love the coral. Wow, a water wall. How cool. I bet a bunch of mounted plants nearby would love that. Happy growing and welcome to the board. Betty PS, I'm a Pa. girl myself, grew up near Wilkes Barre, now live in Eastern Washington state. Essentially the same zone but it is desert here, so little rain, some snow and lots of sunshine. Hot and dry in the summer. Cold and dry in the winter. Have to grow in a gh or the house. GH is my newest toy. Built it last year. Not big enought though. Have a great day. Betty
