I went to my OS orchid show today and I got this plant from a Tropical Plant vendor out of curiosity. I googled the name but no result. Is anybody familiar with this plant?

My guess would be in the hibiscus family, the leaves are truely that in shape. It definitely is not a Japanese Lantern,Japenese lantern pictures from flowers photos on webshots ... but than again here is another one which color is different but possible bloom shape Japenese Lantern pictures from flowers photos on webshots Wish I could be of more help.

it,s called 'japanese flowering maple' or 'abutilon. grow as hibiscus; a little less sun and plenty of fertiliser and water in the summer.
thetend to become scragly with age but cuttings root easely

Yes a flowering maple they are also grown with variegated leaves . Watch it close for aphids . It is very pretty :)
