New to Orchids in Southern Louisiana
 

HI Everyone,

I have been reading some of the posts and wanted to introduce myself. I live in Southern Louisiana and have recently joined our local Society, which meets monthly, and, being new, I have more questions than can be answered at a meeting.

I stumbled onto OB through a search engine and I think I am really going to like this place.:waving

So far the Orchids that have really caught my eye are the Vanda, Phals and the miniatures. ( I really like the tiny ones).

My Rion Hobby Greenhouse has just arrived in the boxes and my hubby said he will put it up for me. I hope he does it soon. I am really anxious to go outside and play.

So..... Here I am. A virtual sponge.

Welcome to orchid board! It sounds like you are all set to start collecting orchids. If you spend too much time around here, you might just be surprised how fast that greenhouse fills up! :biggrin:

Yes... Hubby has already asked how many I plan to have. You should have seen his face when I told him 100 or 2. I figure if I concentrate on minis I can have a lot before I have to expand.

Just got back to the OB. I was there Wed. I'm the one that asked all the questions about the greenhouse doors, if you remember. I'll find you next month.

LOL...I remember coming home from my first meeting and telling my husband about how one of the ladies there told me she had about 500 orchids...and I was just astonished! Couldn't believe it! No way that would ever happen with me!!! :nono:

Well, 4 years later, I am now the crazy lady :rofl:

Ok, Dana I remember, there seems to be as many ways to build a green house as there are orchids. Its what works for the grower that counts, I built my on 10' x 12' lean to. It seems to be working .
