Finished inflorence...to cut or not

I have an Oncidium Carnival Costume that I purchased in bloom a few months ago. After the blooms dropped the stems remain. They are green. Is there any benefit to keeping them or can I cut them off? They get in the way as I am constantly catching on them to work on plants deeper than it stands on the bench.

I always wait till any stems turn brown, but then they are never in my way, in which case I would cut them. I only have 1 or 2 gift Onc's so I don't know much about them though I dont think they send new blooms like some other orchids do.
I vote cut it...now watch ten great reasons why not to cut them pop up:)

I don't think Oncs rebloom on old spikes, so it doesn't matter if you cut it off when it's green or dead. If they are in your way, I would cut them off. Why risk knocking over the plant all because of spent spikes?
