Green stem, No leaves
 

I got two wild orchid cuttings as a gift along with some other orchid cuttings. They had a few leaves and somehow they didn't do too well when I planted them in a mixture of charcoal and moss (the rest have settled down quite nicely).

The leaves fell off and the top of the stem turned brown but the base and the rest of the stem remain green. This has been the case for the past two and a half months. However, there is no new leaf growth either. I am not sure of the plants are dead or alive or what to do to save them. I am new to all this...please help! :_(:_(:_(

It's hard to give a diagnosis without a picture. Any way you can upload one?

If not, it would help to know what kind of orchid it is. It might be a type that is dormant right now...

I'm with Ethan - need to see some pictures or know what kind of orchid it is.
