Do you know this guy, I bought it in my friend garden, midd size, light frangance

Sorry can't help you, but it is a very nice flower. Must be a warm grower coming from Vietnam. Good luck with it.

Do you know if this Cym is supposed to be a species? It looks to me like it could possibly be Cym. lowianum or Cym. iansonii...or a cross made with either of these two. Let us know what you find out.

There is no evidence of Cym lowianum or Cym lowianum var 'i'ansonii' that I can see in your flower due to the lack of the dominant lowianum trait of a barred lip. Because of the veination, the slight fragrance, excesssively starry form and the apparently very narrow leaves, I suspect the Asian species Cym sinense in the first or second generation, probably bred to a Standard Cym. It should have more flowers but the plant appears quite small.

As far as a definite identification, no way to tell. Just enjoy it but handle it more as an Asian species than as a Standard Cym. i.e. blooming more easily in warm climates. :goodluck:

Sorry I can't help you, but I just wanted to say that it looks really great! :D

It looks like Cymbidium Taste of China (Cymbidium Kusuda Shining x Cymbidium sinense)to me. I have one in bloom right now in Florida. Reliable repeat bloomer in my climate.
