Phalaenopsis Flowering Dilemma
Hi
I have a few seedlings of a hybrid mini multifloral Phalaenopsis .. leaf-span is about 8cm. Parents are variously Be Tris, Sogo Tris, etc. I sold a couple online for a small (fair) amount to this guy, and when we're sorting out postage and payment details, he mentions that he has serious heart problems, and basically has 1 year to live. He mentions that these plants will keep him interested in his orchids, and says that "hopefully they can flower for him by next September". So now i feel terrible, because if i sell them to him, i would feel pretty bad if they didn't flower for him by then. :bua: I have not had experience growing up mini multiflorals before, so does anyone know how long they take to go from seedling to first bloom (assuming perfect conditions)? I hear they are relatively early bloomers, but still... :bua::bua::bua: I think next September i'm going to be a nervous wreck if the ones i still have aren't blooming. |
I think you should tell him you don't think it will flower by then and that he ought to buy a plant in spike... sorry for the dilemma... Poor guy

I am a bit embarrassed that this is my first post. I thought it would have something to do with salvaging one of my gasping orchids. But I was moved by your story.
I would remain silent on the anticipated bloom date. After all, it is tending the plant, watching the progress that captivates. There is no guarantee of a bloom at the end, or of getting the dream house, or of finding the perfect lover. Going is the goal. There is not always a prize at the end. |
