Hi from South America
Hello to all,
Mi name is Fabrizio, I'm 22 years old and I grow orchid since I was 17, when I finished school. I live in the north of Argentina, in a city called Corrientes. I'm studing at university of Agrarian Sciences. I like all type of orchids but I specially grow some cattleyas. Sorry about my english. Hugs.:waving |
Hi, Fabrizio, and welcome aboard. You live in a great place for orchid growing. When you can, we'd like to see some pics of your orchids. In the mean time, jump right in, and have fun! And your english is just fine.

Hola Fabrizio!
We are happy that you have joined us! This is a great place to exchange information. It is also a very international forum with friendly people from all over the world. Don't worry about your English, it is excellent. I look forward to learning about your climate and orchids that you grow. I grow several species from South and Central America, do you grow mostly species or mostly hybrids? |
:welcome: Fabrizio. glad you could join us.

Hola Fabrizio,
Como le va? Welcome to the Orchid Board. Glad to see more south Americans joining. Your English is perfect and I would like to know what the climate in your part of the world is like. Thanks. |
Thank you all!
In my city the climate is very hot and humid, we have really high temperatures in summer season, and winters are not too cold. Including the fact that I grow my orchids in a corner of my garden, between 2 walls that improves the warm ambient. So I don't have to worry about frosts, actually my problem is, as I said, the high temperatures. We have an anual media of rains of 1200 mm (I really don't know if you use this unit of measurement, but is a good amount). I grow species and hybrids. Most of the species ar native from Argentina, and some cattleyas from Brazil. I have arround 600 plants, including seedlings, miniatures, and more big ones like Cattleya warnerii or Ondicium flexuosum. I'll be posting some flowers soon, I also like taking pictures and I'm learning to do it well. (Mi camera is not too good to make captures with great detail). Hugs! |
Thanks for the info. 1200mm is 1.2 meters, which is about 4 feet. Wow, yea thats a lot of water. Are you near the Pampas?

Hello Fabrizio,
Welcome to teh OB...it's nice meeting you. :waving It sounds like you've got a lot of orchid knowledge to share from your side of the planet, and I look forward to seeing you around the forums. I'm also looking forward to seeing pics of your collection. :D Take care! |
Welcome Fabrizio! :waving
If you hadn't said anything about your English I would have never guessed that it wasn't your main language. 600 orchids is a very impressive collection, I know that I'll never have enough space indoors for that many! I'm looking forward to your photos too. Have fun on OB! :D |
