Masd vargasii x Masd triangularis

This is a great little guy from I.N. Komoda. It has bloomed 3 or 4 times since I have it, which hasn't been very long!
This will be the first time for multiple spikes...there's a second one halfway there  So cute, the way the little "tongue" flaps up and down  |
Awesome, Sue! I do love this guy. Is yours also fragrant?
|
I can't tell right now...I have the "cold-that-won't-go-away"! :faint:
|
Very cute! Great rich yellow.

Wow Susanne....this is really cool!
I love the stripes... Thanks for sharing it with us. |

I just learned something new about this plant...DON'T cut the spike when the bloom drops!
The bloom on mine dropped over a week ago but I've been too busy...or lazy...to cut down the spike. Since yesterday, I have been looking more closely at it and thought I was imagining things but there is at least one more bud, possibly two! I checked Orchidwiz and found that triangularis only gives one bloom per spike but vargasii gives multiple blooms, one at a time! This hybrid seems to have inherited that trait! Mine also has a second spike budding! I hope they bloom together |
Sue if you like the spikes that give you multiple blooms, try the Masd. amplexa. Mine is getting ready to open it's fifth bloom from the same spike.
I love the streaks running through the bloom - another for the list. Brooke |
Thanks Brooke...is that a warmth-tolerant Masdie? Do you have a picture?
|
Wow Sue, congrats on this one, I can't believe I missed it.
