Hi, can anybody help with this Cattleya Iricolor, I only have this Cattleya and I donŽt know the tricks of the grown...
Someday a black spot apears in one leaf.... and the spot grows... today is the half of the leaf totaly black!!!
I have to cut it??? My plant has a kind of desease and can infect my other CHIDS???

I would cut the leaf. How often are you watering it? Is it getting direct sunlight?

This looks bacterial to me. Cut the leaf and treat it with something for bacteria (I would use Listerine but I think Physan would be what most folks use). Seal the wound with cinnamon and then keep the plant separate from the others for a while.

I'm not an "Ambassador" but I agree with Suzanne. Cut, treat, spray and separate for awhile!

Hi Su...
Do you think IŽll cut the whole leaf or only the half with the dark spot????
Lysterine.... I never heard about a fresh leaf... JAJAJAJAJA:rofl:
I have PHYTON .... is a fungicide...
I never heard about cinnamon powder for the wound... it works???
IŽll separate this plant from the others...
THANK YOU...

THANKS.... IŽll cut, treat, spray and separate in a quarantine

I would cut the whole leave, and be careful not to allow any excretions of the plant touch any other part... bacterial infections are "easy to treat" but very contagious!

I'd cut the entire leaf, not just the blackened part of it.

LOL...I'm happy to have given you such a giggle!

Cinnamon has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years...and it works really well on any cuts or scrapes that an orchid might be subject to. It stops any infection from entering the leaf and seals it too! I've heard of people who put cinnamon into some Elmer's Glue (regular white school glue) and use that as a patch.

Bacteria is not really a big deal...as long as it is treated as soon as you see it so it doesn't infect the rest of your collection. This plant should be fine if you follow the advice everybody here has given

Today IŽll make that surgery... I hope my plant survive...
