Please help me identify this orchid
1 Attachment(s)
Hi I am attaching the photo of a new orchid I bought.
Please help me in its identification, thanks, Dev |
cannot see very well in the picture, but I am almost sure it is not an orchid, but an iridaceae... reminds me of a plant with yellow flowers my grandma had in her garden in Venezuela...

HI kavanaru,
thanks for the attempt. I will give u some more Information which may help youto come to a conclusion. I am from the Eastern part of India, coastal area. The plant is planted in brick chips like an orchid.I can take closer snaps of the stem and roots if u want. |
can you describe the flowers?
|
From the picture I agree that it doesn't look like an orchid but it does look a lot like the walking iris houseplant I have. In the spring mine has white flowers with blue centers; the fragrant flowers are at the end of long stems and after blooming the flowers fall off and baby plants are formed. I looked on the internet and some info and pictures can be found at: PlantFiles: Detailed information on Walking Iris, Apostle Plant Neomarica gracilis

That is definitely an iris of some sort, I am guessing walking iris as well. Enjoy, it is a lovely and vigorous plant!
|
I agree with Judi,
It looks like Neomarica which is a widely cultivated iris relative. Eric |
Thanks a lot friends, Honestly I haven't seen this plant flower. I bought it as I thought it was an orchid( you see i am new to it) but now that I know what it is, I will wait for it to flower.
Thanks again friends. Dev |
